Chief John Golding (1933 - 2001) pg. 2

Everybody who knew Chief Golding remembers the way his mind would wrap itself around a problem. In his inimitable way, he would wring out all the information he could get, before quietly, carefully, but inexorably, engineering a solution.  That was the way John Golding was. If anyone ever could be, he was, in truth, an icon. He gave himself wholeheartedly to the fire service. It goes without saying that he is going to be very sorely missed.

Prior to coming to Jollyville, John was a USAF pilot. During his time in the Air Force, he flew just about every aircraft that was made, including the last B-29 that was in service. Among many other projects, he was involved in the development of the U-2 spy plane, flying modified B-57 aircraft specially outfitted to resemble the U-2, to test nuances in design and operational procedures.

Chief Golding is survived by his wife, Laurie, a daughter, Lisa, and three grandchildren.
