After getting through the crease, I rounded the corner, scrambled up a short section of talus, and found myself back at the Kehyole. I wish I'd taken more photos of this stretch, but I didn't. Now all I had to do was hike down the other side to the Boulderfield and make it over to my campsite. The campsite was still a long way off, though, and now I was beginning to feel bushed. It was 2:18 p.m., a little less than 8 hours after starting out from the campsite earlier this morning. Most hikers make this trek in a lot less than half that time. Some do it in a lot less time than that. It's a good thing I wasn't trying to set any records for speed...
The fellow from Dallas can be seen just below where I was standing in the Keyhole. All that is visible is his cap and backpack. This was the last I saw of the fellow. I was happy to be able to match his pace, since he was about 28 years younger. Then I remembered that he'd carried a heavy backpack all the way up, and I was traveling much lighter...
