A Longhorn Wedding in Aggieland by Jerry Cates
Shelby Ann Corrier & Darrell Ray Bacak were wed on this day in Wellborn, Texas, Less than 15 miles from Texas A&M University. But bride and groom are both graduates of The University of Texas, Shelby Ann from the College of Engineering, and Darrell Ray from the (recently renamed, on October 26, 2000) Red McCombs School of Business. So what do you do when practically all the guests at your wedding are Aggies? You have a cake like this one baked. And you place a Longhorn football helmet nearby, with Longhorn napkins and a photo of the UT Tower, lit up with Numero Uno. That's what you do. After the cake was ceremoniously cut by bride and groom, a group of Aggies commandeered it, replaced the helmet with one in Aggie colors and insignia, and with hacksaw and steel saw blades of various kinds feigned the removal of the steer's horns. All in fun. Additional wedding photos are displayed on subsequent pages. To make them more easily viewed by those with dial-up internet connections, no more than four to six photos have been placed on a given page. See printing suggestions below
