The tiny, bluish-red flower, shown above and to the left, was found next to the Bitter Sneezeweed of the previous page. Pesky cacti surrounded it, and discouraged me from taking additional photos of the stems and basal leaves. No matter how hard I tried, the cactus spines zapped me. It's too bad I'm such a wuss, because it will be difficult to identify this plant in the absence of more information about it, information that photos of its other parts would have provided.

I will be spending some time in the park later in the week and next weekend, and may take more photos of this specimen then. It is difficult to see, because the flowers are so small... In this regard it reminds me of American Brooklime (Veronica americana).

Update: this plant's flowers were no longer visible when I next visited it.
